  1. The pronunciation of a surname can vary between several different pronunciations.  Think of the way tomato is pronounced. Personally unless told different I would pronounce this name with soft vowels and three syllables. A web site called "name lab" says:

    Muslim: from an Arabic name denoting a follower of Mūsā al-Kāzim (died 1183), the seventh imam of the Shiite Muslims, who is revered as a saint. Kāzim means ‘one who controls his anger’.
