  1. I don't dispute that it may be a Hungarian family's name, but it's not Hungarian in origin. That said... a name spelled "Laczina" in Hungarian would be pronounced roughly /LA-tsee-na/, with /a/ like in 'tall' or 'bar' or the 'o' in 'knot', /ts/ like in 'lets', and /ee/ like in 'see', though shorter in duration, and with the stress on the capitalized syllable.

GrahamH: 'cz' is an archaic version of 'c', which in Hungarian is always the /ts/ sound like in 'lets'. It is NEVER a /ch/ like in 'church'; for that, you need 'cs'.

  2. well i have no idea were the hungarian origin is, but if it were in arabic it would be pronounced as "Lek-Zeena" or american "Lak-Zz eye naa"

  3. In Hungarian, "Laczina"would be pronounced [Lah-chee-nah].

Both "a's" are very rounded, sounding almost like the American pronunciation of "o" in "not"

Lollie: the sound you describe ("KH") does not exist in Hungarian.

  4. I will pronounce it at LAZZEENA. I am not sure how you pronounce it to hungarian origin though

  5. It would either pronounce it as Lazeena or

    as La-CHI-na, or

as Lah-KH-zina (as in when you have something at the back of your throat to make the 'kuh' sound,

as one of my friends is half hungarian-half american, and her second name has that sound in the middle of it,

or even L-AH-zeena (still with the -back-of-the-throat-'kuh' sound, but emphasised on the AH )

    It really depends ;)

    Hope this helps ;)
