  1. in Who Do You Think You Are last week Graham Norton and his mum pronounced it a-HOCKH-ill (ckh as in Scottish Loch)

  2. ah - hogh - ill

the middle syllable is normally soft with the 'gh' a guttaral sound BUT it can also be given a hard 'k' sound tho this is normally an Ulster -Scotism (not wrong - just different)

  3. a haw hill

  4. a-hock-ill. say it fast.  but it depends on which county your from and your religion.  in belfast also in county  antrim most catholics would call it a-hack-ill, protestants most would call it ahh-ogh-ill really hard on the consonants.  same for brougshane. we call it broshane some protestants call it browshane.

  5. "Ah-Hoh-hill"
