I have a lateral lisp, and i attended speech therapy in 5th grade, but I will soon be a freshmen in high school, and I am tired of my lisp. I would just like to know the proper tongue positioning for saying "s", and any other details...Thanks!

  1. Don't touch ur tongue to ur front teeth.  the sides of ur tongue will rest on ur side teeth.

  2. Thorry can't help u there. Ith jutht 1 thing u kind of develop. idk how 2 get rid of a lithp.

  3. Try not to pronounce words that have an "s" in it as a "th" (for example, saying "lithsp" instead of "lisp"). Don't stick your tongue out too far. The "s" requires your tongue to be fully inside of your mouth. If you are still having trouble, you can ask your parents for more speech therapy. Good luck!

  4. Just to say the 's' sound without words, you get your teeth almost clenched, tip of tongue just behind them but not touching, and blow through the small opening of the lips.

For the 's' sounds at the beginning of a word and at the end of it, the positionings  of the teeth, lips and tongue are different again. It is best to get the teacher  or a native speaker to show you exactly how they are done. Following texts is difficult.  :-))

  5. I think the main thing is that the sides of your tongue touch your side teeth and that the tip of your tongue does not touch your front teeth. When you blow to make the "s" sound, the air should go over the top of your tongue and not underneath or around the sides. You'll probably feel it most on the tip of your tongue.

  6. s

  7. Your tongue shouldn't be anywhere near your teeth. Don't bite down on your tongue. The sound is like the hissing of a snake; they're shouldn't be an abrupt stop to the sound, it just flows.

  8. sssssssssssssss onomatopoeia like a snake

  9. Move the tongue tip from  position of touching to teeth of lower jaw to the position of touching to teeth of upper jaw and meanwhile pushing  out air from bottom of tongue.

  10. you can say it either "Esssssssss" or try saying siiiiiiiiiither a couple of times!...i dk i hope this helps....good luck to you!

  11. How do I tell you how I pronounce 's' when I'm typin?

  12. ha not like my science teacher "ttttsssss ttttsssss"

  13. right...I can't pronounce good "r" and people think I'm from France sometimes...LOL

you just put your tongue in your teeths( but not stuck them in the teeth) and the air comes from the lungs not from the mouth...it's like whistling....
