  1. give the litter box a bleach bath then then add some good smelling soap let it dry for 2 hours outside

  2. i think there is some kinds of soloutions

  3. The litter box doesn't really need to be disinfected. It doesn't have infection in it, just poo. And it should be scooped about 2 times a day to make sure it is clean.

To disinfect it take a gallon of warm water and add 1/3 cup clorox to it. Rinse the box out with the mixture and then rinse it out completely to get the clorox smell out.

It will be clean enough to eat off of!

PS I use green trash bags as a litter box liner and then throw out the whole works every 5-6 days. That means my litter box is always spot clean!

  4. Just soap and water is enough, anything stronger could deter the cats from using it and some cleansers can be toxic.

  5. Proper cleaning is a through scooping of waste everyday - and replacing the litter at the same time.  Once a month (if you scoop everyday) completely throw away the litter and wash the litterbox with dish soap and water.  Do not use bleach or detergents like Lysol or Pinesol.  They have a scent that could offend the cat.  Their sense of smell is different from ours and they do not require their bathrooms to smell like lavender and flowers.  Completely dry the box and replace litter.  I use a cup of baking soda added to the litter to help control the smell once a week.  Make sure you have enough litter in the box, 3-4 inches is the recommended amount.

  6. I use bleach as well...I wash them first with dishwashing liquid and follow with clorox cleanup---rinse well!

  7. A solution of water and bleach.
