How do you properly lube an airsoft gun?

I just bought my first airsoft gun and a can of 100% silicone lube. It is a UTG MK23 spring pistol. How can i properly lube my gun and how often should i lube it?

  1. First off, make sure that your silicone oil does not contain any petroleum products or distillates.  That will cause damage to your rubber hop-up and the plastic parts of the gun over time.  That said....

    Spray a little down the barrell, 1-2 second spray and a quick burst into the BB Feed point (in the magazine well). Using .22 caliber gun patches, swab the barrell until the patches come out clean.  Fire a a few BBs through your gun to get the extra Silicone oil out.  Note that your gun may shoot a bit off until all the excess oil is eliminated.

    It also wouldn't hurt to lube any of the moving parts on your gun too (folding stock hinge, etc).


  2. It depends on what it is a spring gun doesnt really need lube. AEGs or electics you should spray into the muzzle for 1 second and then fire a burst of bbs out. silicone spray isnt good for much else on the AEGs but, if its a gas weapon then apply it to any moving part and the barrel, if its a gas weapon and you use propane then apply more often.

    any time you spray wipe it down
