How do you prune plants?

I have 2 rosebushes, 1 hydrangea bush and a green apple tree in my backyard and would like to know how to prune them.

  1. Hello... the best time to prune back your roses and hydrangea is in the fall . Roses leave about 8-10" above ground,and cut out any branches that look dry & dead. Hydrangea, I leave about 5" and use Mulch around both plants. If you are in a really cold zone you need to cover all with Mulch. Then come spring after last frost uncover.... Good Luck !!!!!
