How do you prune plants?

I have 2 rosebushes, 1 hydrangea bush and a green apple tree in my backyard and would like to know how to prune them.

Hello... the best time to prune back your roses and hydrangea is in the fall . Roses leave about 8-10" above ground,and cut out any branches that look dry & dead. Hydrangea, I leave about 5" and use Mulch around both plants. If you are in a really cold zone you need to cover all with Mulch. Then come spring after last frost uncover.... Good Luck !!!!!
