How can I punch harder! What muscle do I need to work on?

  1. Do you have access to a real gym (where boxers and wrestlers train) or not?  It would help if you did, then you could get advice from pros and have access to real body building equipment.  Actually, you use most all of your muscles to throw a heavy punch, from the leg muscles on through upper body muscles because you have to put your weight into it from the legs on up.  Good luck.


  2. As an example, a straight right punch starts at the toes and ends at the fist. Think of your body having swivels at the ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, arms, and wrists; then imagine them all swiveling, starting  from the foot first and ending at the wrist, but almost simultaneously and in complete synchronisation, with a snap at the end. Work on exercises that help with hand-eye-foot coordination, like hitting the speed bag and jumping rope. If you want to get a stronger punch with weights, dead lifts increase overall body strength and muscle and bone density, without adding too much weight. Furthermore, dead lifts help a little bit with your timing.
