  1. It is nothing about ability or talent, what it comes down to is attitude. Never allow yourself to fear someone at the end of a race because they have run faster times then yourself. In your mind your the best. You need swagger evolve into a hubris of sorts. You need to be a little crazy, worry about the consequences of pushing yourself after the race. You need to be mad and mean, feel as if others racing against you are stealing from you and its your job to get it back by winning the race. The kick or pushing yourself, is all determined by mental toughness. It all comes down to who wants it the most, whos willing to sacrifice the most to get it. It may be painful, but pain is just the weakness leaving your body. Also any amount of pain is worth enduring just to feel victory at the end of a race. Simply change your attitude and race the last 200-300 meters on heart, desire, emotions, and passion. Good Luck.

  2. i have the same problem, and sure you can listen to all of these drawn out ideas that won't have any effect because you don't think about them when you're running.. you just gotta grit your teeth and give it h**l, unless you have something that motivates you greatly then think about that, or something that angers you works too because it takes your mind off the pain in your legs.

  3. Just think to yourself, "AAAAAHHHHHH! I can run fast! Run! If I do not push myself this last little stretch, the race would be boring! I might as well CHARGE to the finish line!" Music also helps.

  4. You just have to remind yourself of all the effort you already put in and that pushing through the last two laps at a good effort will be so much worth it because if you stop now all your hard work of the race before that will be worth nothing. only 2 laps left...then one lap, then tell yourself 200 meter, 100 meter...ok final stretch. try to break it down like that at two laps left, but not anything before that because it won't work that long. good luck.

  5. You can push your self near the end of the 2 mile by keep in mind that you work hard for that race and you can't give up now so just keep on pushing hard and keep a little of anger going so you have some energy to push your self.

  6. Of course, you always feel better after you know you can do it.

  7. Just step a little further. Remind yourself it's better to try then to drag your feet.

  8. I think it's all about the music. You need to find something that will pump you up. I listen to something with a strong, fast beat like Linkin Park or something. Keep a playlist of "go to songs" for those times when u really need a push.

Also, you have to be positive. If you encourage yourself with some inner thoughts like, "you can do this!" or "please, 2 miles? i can do 5" i think you'll pull through.

the worst is when i look at the time or mileage on the treadmill. I end up covering it with a towel or tee-shirt and i actually run farther than i normally would.

  9. Running the 3200 meters, takes alot of practice, learn how to pace yourself during the race instead of shooting yourself out of a gun at the start of the race- which i see alot of kids in highschool and lower levels do.

Your " kick " should noramlly be within 200-300 meters left in the race

but it all go`s back to the main word- practice- run your tail off basiclly during the middle of the week--- 5 miles in moring and 5 miles in the evening- everyday for a week- train your body- after running 70 miles in a week- a two mile race is nothing what your use to and etc.

you know what you gotta do

go to www.youtube.com and watch the video " billy mills or running brave " and watch how they run and watch the " kick "-- good luck

  10. Its guts. Just like Prefontaine said
