First you must load the DVD into your computer and save it to your computer (it will save to AVI format) Find an AVI to MPEG4 converter on google or another search station and convert it then simply copy and paste it to itunes and you can put it on your ipod!

basically doing that is illegal under copyright laws thats why you can't do it in one step like you can music CD's.

there are programs that RIP the DVD and create a MPEG4 file but check that they use an coding thats compatible with itunes h.264 is best as its universal but some programs use their own so you can only play back with that program.

Chose one that meets your likes and operating system from

www.versiontracker.com  and enter DVD RIP in the search box.

once you have the .mov or  (less good) .avi file drop it ont the itunes library icon in itunes. If you use the right coding it will add it (and it will play) if not it will tell you the error and you need to try again with another RIPPER.

on the Mac Handbrake is the easiest and most compatible.
