  1. The easiest way to do it is to use a DVD recorder rather than the laborious way through the PC, maybe a friend or neighbour has a DVD recorder and would oblige?

  2. you will need a video capture card for the PC. there are many types, some plug into the usb and others inside the pc case

  3. wires

  4. You'll need a "Capture Card" for your PC.  It will allow you to plug your VCRs Yellow, Red, and White wires into your computer and "capture" the video onto the computer.  Then you'll need a program that can take that video and make a DVD out of it. Many capture cards/computers may come with the DVD software already.

Also, if you have a digital camcorder per chance, you may be able to use it as a capture device... in other words hook the VCR up to the camcorder and the camcorder to the PC with a "firewire" cable.  Once you "capture" the VHS footage you may wish to edit it before putting it to DVD.  The capture hardware should come with an editing utility.. if not you can use Windows Movie Maker... available within Windows Me, XP, Vista, etc.  Obviously you'll also need a DVD burner (DVD-RW) drive for your compute as well.

If your lacking software to do certain things... there's alot of video stuff available for free or for trial at download.com.
