Question:

How do you put contacts in?

I'm having a hard time putting contacts in. I just got them Friday. I really haven't put them in my self since Friday and I've tried every day. I've gotten so stressed out with them, but I'm not going to give up. One of my problems it that 1) it won't come off of my finger when I touch my eye and 2) when it gets on my eye it will fold up and come off when I blink a few times. Please make the answers as detailed and simple as you can because I'm only 13 and new to using contacts. Answers greatly appreciated.

  1. So here's the deal.

The key to putting them in properly is having your eye as wide open as possible.

When they don't come off your finger or fall out once in your eye, it's because they have either touched your eyelashes (you may not feel it, but they do) or touched the area around your eye.

They work like a suction cup, so when the suction is broken they don't stay in.

So on to how to put them in -

    1) Make sure it's on your finger correctly. Does it look like a nice little bubble? It should.

    2) Go to a good mirror (like in a bathroom) and lean close to it. Make sure that if you drop the contact or it falls out, it will fall onto a counter or somewhere where you can find it.

    3) You should have been taught how to hold your eye open, right? (if not, let me know...) Make sure you do this step right.

    4) Gently set them on to the iris (colored part) and try your best not to blink yet.

    5) Look to all directions as far as you can (without turning your head, of course). This helps to secure them in place.

    6) Blink a couple of times, fairly lightly, to get rid of all irritation.

    Good luck!
