  1. Why would it be any different than sending a letter to anyone else? Goes to the US Postal service...

  2. I highly suggest sending it in a normal white envelope and writing "Recruit" in front of the name (Not PVT!!).  Any colored envelopes will catch the eye of the drill instructor and have the person you are sending this letter to, do push ups or even worse.  The whole point of the letter is to make it ordinary as possible.  The paper which you write on can be any color you want it to be.

  3. Most people use either a pen or a pencil.  You could use a Sharpie or print out labels on your computer.  Maybe a quill and ink well or calligraphy.

  4. Just don't address him as "Marine" or Private!

  5. Do it same way that you would for anyone else. Like this:

    Pvt A. Shmuckately

    B Co. 3rd Bn 6th Marines

    MCB Camp Pendleton, CA 92278
