  1. Or, click "Start" in the lower left of Windows, then "Run" on the Start menu. In the dialog box where it asks you what to run, type charmap . Another box (the "character map") pops up with dozens of characters. Find the ñ, or the degree symbol °, or whatever, click on it, then click Select, then Copy, then go back to your typing, put the cursor where you want the symbol, then right click and click Paste. Voila!© Keeps you from having to remember the code for each symbol.

  3. That symbol is called a tilde.  If you are working on a computer in a text document you can apply the ASCII code for an n with a tilde, which is the following:

    Hold down the Alt. key while you type 0241 on you numbers key pad.

    If you are in Microsoft Word document, go to Insert Menu and select Symbols.  From that box select the symbol you want to add to you document.
