I have an ipod nano (3rd gen.) and a video which is an .avi file. How do I put it on my ipod without buying anything.

    Download it, convert it, locate it and drag it into the library section of itunes, go to ipod nano tab, movies or videos tab, click the video, hit sync in the bottom right hand corner.

  8. drag the video .avi file onto itunes library then it should import into itunes. check it can play in itunes first as if it cant you will need to convert it to a .mov file using a 3rd party program.

    Once it plays OK in itunes, select the file then under the advanced menu select 'convert for ipod/itunes' as this then reduces the file bit rate and size to what the ipod can manage then sync this converted file under the movies tab for the ipod.  then sync it.

  9. iPod accepts only MP4 format video, If your video is MP4 video, just follow below steps to add video to iPod.

    1. Open iTunes and click "File" to add your videos to iTunes library.

    2.Then plug in your iPod to computer, iTunes will detect your iPod as a device. select your iPod device on the left panel of iTunes, click "Movies" tab, check the videos you want to sync and click "Apply", done.

    If your video isn't MP4 format, you need third party software to convert video to MP4, I always use Aimersoft iPod Converter Suite, it can easily convert video to ipod with high quality, that's really good, you can check it out here for free:
