Question:

How do you quote a character from a book by one author?

I'm not trying to create a works cited page, I just want to use a phrase/quote from a book I read. I'm guessing it might be, {quote}, {character}, {author}? I'm not sure, any feedback would be appreciated.

    As [character] said in [Book] by [Author], "QUOTE."

I'm assuming you are referring to an in-text citation, based on your question, but I can't really answer your question without knowing in what style you are writing. I always use the site http://www.noodletools.com for MLA and APA reference lists, maybe it can help you with your question.
