How do you quote a long section of a book?

i know once quotes get kind of long your supposed to do something different, but what? thank you!

  1. Usually if it's more than two sentences, you need to indent the quote and make the font a little smaller and if you're double spacing, use single spacing for the quote. And you should cite the original author at the end of that smaller paragraph.  Happy writing!


  2. if it's mla style, indent each line twice. you also don't need to put quotes around it

  3. Do a block quote: Indent at both ends and single space if it's over 4 lines.

  4. If it's more than 4 lines, you have to indent each line.

  5. You indent the entire quote and do not use quotation marks. For example:

    John (2008) states

            blah.......................................

            blah..............................

            blah

            blah

    then go back to finishing your paragraph without.
