I have 4 pioneer speakers and a 1500 watt MTX sub, but i just want bass coming from the subwoofer and none at all coming from the speakers. I'm not sure how to achieve this but i know the best audio installers do this with ease

  1. you have to have a 4channel amp with a low pass filter so only high notes come out of it no other way to do it off of a cd player

  2. You can buy these little filters that you wire inline between speaker and headunit/ amp, available at Crutchfield, among other places. This will be the cheapest way to cut the bass to your speakers. You could also put an equalizer in, but I don't think it would be worth it for this specific application.

  3. Simple...set your amp to low pass hooked up to all speakers accept your sub. This will filter out all bass to them.

  4. The pro way is to use an active crossover on the audio signal, and "bi-amp" or "tri-amp" the output (depending upon whether or not you have separate tweets). A cross-over is a set of overlapping filters: low-pass filter that sends the lows to your subs, a band-pass filter for the mids, and a high-pass filter for the signal that goes to your tweeter amp. Each signal coming out of the crossover needs its own amp.

Many amps have filters built in to their pre-amp stage, eliminating the need for a separate outboard cross over. For example, it's very rare to find a dedicated subwoofer amp that does not have a low-pass filter at the input. Many head units also have digital filtering built in, with separate outputs for your subs.

In a nutshell, the pro way to separate your signals is by active filtering, which is filtering done on the audio signal, before it reaches the power amplification stage. This makes the best use of your amplifier power.

In  mid-priced, decent systems, it's common to have passive filtering (filtering of the amp output) for the tweets, since they use the least power. This comes in the form of a capacitor in line to the tweeter, functioning as a high-pass filter. Passive filtering is not used for subs.

  5. turn on the high pass filter or HPF on ur stereo so that they only play the higher frequencies

  6. depending on your headunit you can just turn the bass off at the unit for the speakers.

If you have a 4 Channel amp you can hook up your front speakers and there should be a controller on the amp that would control the bass for the front speaker and rear speaker(sub) thats how mines is set up

if you want to spend a lil money then you can buy a crossover but that can be a little expensive, cheap alternative is to get a device that is a type of capacitor called "bass blockers" there like 7 dollars a pair
