Question:

How do you "shoot" in volleyball?

it's like hitting the ball, but its not as hard. it still angles, so you have to flick your wrist still. a lot of beach volleyball players do this when there is a block and they can't hit it, or their shoulders are injured.

asking how to do it, when to do it, how to aim it, and any other basic things like that?

thanks!!!

  1. a roll shot is a shot where you hit under the ball, and put a lot of topspin on it, it is useful for sets that you are infront of or behind or if there is a large block. You aim just like a normal hit and it is pretty simple. A shoot has nothing to do with it.

  2. a shoot is like a quick set. like a push. it can actually be used as a quick set for a hitter on your own team or you can shoot it over the net.

if it is used as a set, then its affective because it doesent give the middle on the other team time to read it.

if it used as a kill, its affective because it is very controlable so you can either hit a whole or a corner. it is very hard to read.

    hope this helps. =]

  3. rollshot?

  4. Rule of thumb, only go to your shots on great sets....  Sounds backwards but here's why.  A blind shot is nothing more than a free ball to the defense.  You need to see the block and the defense in order to place your shot with purpose.  That doesn't mean tip every good or great set.  All you want to do with a shot is keep the defense honest.  Throw it in on occasion when you SEE the big whole in the middle of the court or behind a double block where the wing is in bad tip coverage.  The best shots are the deep shots to corners or deep seem with a 3/4 arm swing.  As for how to do it, it's a lot more complicated than a yahoo question can answer.

  5. u push the ball hard in any angle u want

  6. Basically, A shoot is a quick set, not any type of hit. Your coach may tell you to "shoot" the ball to a spot, but that is incorrect usage of the term and may only lead to confusion in the long run. If your coach does do this, ask them to clarify for you.

A soft roll is a very soft arching shot that rolls just over the block and hopefully to the floor if you are playing a lazy defense. Very similar to a tip, but you use your whole hand to hit it, not just the fingertips.

A deep roll is a very high arching shot that rolls to the back corners of the opposing court. If it's a good shot, it'll make the defense worry too much about whether it's in or out and less about creating a good platform and passing it. Resulting in a shank and, hopefully a point.

    Edited to clarify.
