My friend made the stupid move of taking them,

and now we need to take care of them. I believe they are mallards. I went to the local feed store and purchased some

duckling feed, and they are now in my friends closet.

(Which is the warmest part of the house )

Does anyone have any idea how old they need to

be before they are let go, and does anyone have

any tips of taking care of them ?

  1. You cant keep them

If you were to nurse them till they're strong enough to be on their own...it would already be winter time and they wouldnt know how to fly south

So unless you get their wings clipped You have to call your local fish and game center.

If you do keep them, get their wings clipped then house them in a hamster cage with wood shavings (or something like that) lining the bottom

Give them plenty of water, bathe them regularly, and keep them well fed

But if their wings are clipped, you have to keep them forever

  2. You need to get these ducklings to some sort of Wildlife Center ASAP.

I can see you mean well, but you can't take care of ducklings and then release them. They won't be able to survive on their own and will likely not live long, because they will be used to humans caring for them and won't have any sort of survival skills. The best thing to do is find a Wildlife Rescue/Rehab Center and bring them there so professionals can raise them for release.
