  1. For me, I say the "best" is the one that l arrives on time.

Among the big U.S. carriers, Southwest recorded 80.4 percent annual on-time arrivals, making it the most punctual of the major fliers.

    Frontier

    Annual on-time arrivals: 79%

    Airtran

    Annual on-time arrivals: 77.2%

    Delta

    Annual on-time arrivals: 76.9%

    Skywest

    Annual on-time arrivals: 75.4%

    Continental

    Annual on-time arrivals: 74.8%

    ExpressJet

    Annual on-time arrivals: 74.2%

    Mesa

    Annual on-time arrivals: 73.7%

    United,

    Annual on-time arrivals: 71.5%

    American

    Annual on time arrivals: 69.9%

    American Eagle

    Annual on-time arrivals: 69.7%

    Northwest

    Annual on-time arrivals: 69.5%

    JetBlue

    Annual on-time arrivals: 69.3%

    US Airways

    Annual on-time arrivals: 68%

    Comair

    Annual on-time arrivals: 67.9%

  2. Best to worst

    Continental

    tie: Northwest - US Airways

    American

    Delta

    United

Continental is the only US airline that I would fly willingly even if I had another option.

I don't recall anything in particular about the few US airways and Northwest flights I've been on.  That puts them way ahead of Delta and United.

I am never flying United again.

    Other airlines that suck:

    Alaska

    Other good ones:

    KAL

JAL (only if it's a JAL plane...IIRC they code-share with United)

    Asiana

    ANA

  3. #1 NWA - their int'l service is kinda nice plus their hub in Detroit is awesome.

#2 American Airlines - when ou fly first class in dom. routes, service kinda nice, else, if on economy, so-so.

    #3 Delta - no comment

#4 Continental - I hate their attendants in Newark, very rude and cold to passengers.

#5 United - have never flown w/ UA

#6 USAir - have never flown w/ US

In my opinion, US airlines' have low standards..... Carriers such as Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, South African, have better service and newer planes, hence higher quality...

  4. Unless you fly international, United is probably the worst on time performer. Continental and nouthwest seem to have people who actually care about your flight. American and Northwest probably have the worst planes. I mean, international, local routes all the planes I have been on of theirs are NOT comfortable.

Given a choice I would probably go with Continential.

  5. #1 Continental

    #2 American

    #3 Delta

    #4 United

    #5 Northwest

    #6 US Airways

Continental has good customer service, sems to have won many awards in the last few years.

US Airways has terrible customer service.

  6. I like jet blue the best and all the ones you listed are in between, bottom place goes to Southwest, by a mile, a sky mile!

  7. American airlines has never let me down.

  8. 7,8,9,9,7,6

  9. American airlines-has good service but a bit on the pricey side

Delta Airlines- balance of price service

    Continental Airlines -same as delta

    Northwest airlines-is c**p

United airlines-has a lot of direct routes and thats it

    US Airways-fair balance of service.

    so

    American-1

    Continental-2

    Delta-3

    United Airlines-4

    US Airways-5

    Northwest Airlines-5

  10. I would put Continental first, because I fly them frequently without problems, and then I would put United Airlines then American Airlines, and Delta goes next. After that I would put Northwest and US Airways last.

  11. Best: Southwest. Their agility at problem solving is amazing

American: 4 of last 6 flights delayed or cancelled because of mechanical problems with aging planes

Continental: International is good. Domestic, just another airline. Continental Express is garbage. I won't fly them any more, even if I have to take the train or drive.

Northwest & United, too internally focused about their own issues to care about the passengers

Haven't flown Delta or US Air recently
