My piece of c**p thrift store $20 bike got a flat tire. So I took off the tire and replaced the inner tube but now the rear derailleur isn't attaching itself! I don't understand how I re-attach it. There are screws but they don't fit into any part of the bike...

  1. Get a new bike from wall Mart or target they are better than your POS Bike as it Sounds

  2. It's likely your derailleur has a hanger which will fit unto the axle of the rear wheel.  You will have the frame, the derailleur, then the axle nut which secures both the wheel and the derailleur.

  3. Attached to the derailleur is an arm with a hanger on it. The hanger has a c shaped cutout and a hole. In addition you should have a small s***w and a half-moon shaped nut.

    1) Put the s***w through the hole in the hanger and start the nut onto the s***w just enough to hold it.

    2) Remove the rear wheel.

    3) Slide the derailleur into the dropout (where the wheel fits) all the way back. Make sure the nut is fitted into the dropout. Tighten the s***w.

    4) Reinstall the rear wheel, making sure that it is centered into the frame and tighten the nuts evenly.
