For example, if the Patriots are playing the Steelers and the Patriots have a +150 or the Steelers have a -210, what does that mean?

  1.   those numbers are called money line plays and the minus to plus is the risk amount needed to win $100 (the minus) and the amount positive amount won by risking $100 (the positive).  Then you also have point spread which is the number the favorite team say "eagles

(-4)over rams" must win by if you chose the eagles and if you play the rams they can lose but by no more than 4 for you to win the wager and if eagles win by the point spread number exactly its a push and no win or loss is figured in.  There are also numbers to go along with point spread numbers called "juice' so the eagles could be (-4) at -110 that means you bet the eagles -4 pts and you have to lay $110 to win $100  and so on for -120/-105/-115 etc and a plus juice number like +105/+120  you would lay $100 on the point spread and if successfull gain the plus value.

Its best to do some research and find a lower juice sportsbook so you can save money in the long run and gain a small but usefull advantage. If your looking for more info on lower juice sportsbooks check out  http://www.sharpsquaresports.com they have sports book reviews and up to date bonus info and offer some great low juice shops to sign up at and play with confidence. Best of luck in all your wagers.

  2. The odds that are listed as +150 or -210 are 'american' style. This simply means that they are based on $100. When you see the number displayed as a (+) positive number it signifies how much you will win if you RISK $100. For your example you have the odds listed as +150 so if you risk $100 then you will win $150 for a total return of $250. If the number is listed as a (-) negative number it signifies how much you must RISK in order to WIN $100. So if you see -210, then you must RISK $210 in order to win $100 for a total return of $310. 4. "The odds that are listed as +150 or -210 are 'american' style."

the lower a number (i.e. the -210), the more a team is tipped to win. so this couples with the idea that you have to put down $210 to make a further $100. the higher the number the bigger risk but the higher the return.
