How do you reboot a direct tv box?

We can't get Direct Tv to work.

Unplug the box and wait three minutes, then plug again, if it still doesn't work call teh direct tv people, they will walk you step by step through the process.

Unplug the power cord for 5 minutes....no less or it won't reboot....

Even if the Direct TV guys say unplug it for 30 seconds....MAKE it 5 minutes...

The newer boxes take 5 minutes, and the REAL OLD boxes take 2 minutes to reset...

And they like to say it only takes 30 seconds....and they are completely wrong about that.

It's worked every time for me on every piece of equipment, no matter what brand it is.....
