  1. have you tried unplugging your battery then hooking it back up?  That always resets the computer in my car.

  2. You don't. It can't be done. I imagine there's someone out there capable of servicing them, but they usually just replace them. Best to find out for certain if it's the computer, as it won't be cheap.

  3. Disconnect the battery.

Turn on lights or other accesories to bleed off any charge held in the capacitors.

Turn off the lights or accessories.

    Reconnect the battery.

This will cause the engine control module and other computers to reinitialize.

This will NOT clear any trouble codes stored in the computer's memory. For than you will need to connect a disnostic tool to the OBDII connector under the instrument panel, turn the ignition key to the on position (but don't start the engine)display the trouble codes,  clear the trouble codes.

Disconnect the OBDII Diagnostic tool. Start the engine.

If the problem was only temporary, the check engine light will go out after you start the engine. If it remains lit, then you need to correct the malfunction indicated by the trouble code.

If you don't have a diagnostic tool, many auto parts stores will let you use their diagnostic tool to check your vehicle.
