How do you recolor objects on sims 2?

i would like to recolor objects on the sims 2 using SimEP but i dont know how

When you put it in you just keep the mouse over the object in catalog and it will come up with a bunch of different colors if you already have it in there is a tool on the left side and it looks like a zig zag square.
