How do you record a television show using a vcr?

I have my cable wire running to the vcr and then to the television. I put a blank vhs in the vcr and then pushed the channel button on the vcr up to the channel that im going to record. So do i just push record next?The show I wan to record comes on in two hours and can i set it to start recording in two hours?

  1. I am not sure how to make it automatically record, but all you have to do is make sure it is on the correct channel. It sounds like you have it set up right, but it has been years since I have used a VCR.


  2. Use the remote to set the start time and end time. Add a few minutes on both ends to make sure you get the beginning and end of your show.

  3. Basically what you describe is correct...

    As o how to set the timer on your VCR you need to RTFM:  read the freaking manual - there are just too many types out there, and very few operate the same.

    Try a test recording before the big event, and make sure that your tape will run long enough to record all of your show.

  5. you can't get it to record at a certain time. vcrs are to old. unless yours has that, but if u don't you have to press record at that time and have that 2 hours of stuff on it.

  6. Yes. Just put the VCR on the channel that you want to record, and press REC (Record) to start recording. You can have it record automatically by programming it. You should refer to the VCR's owner's manual when it comes to Timed Recording.
