How do you record something from your tv (other than video taping it)?

  1. You have 3 options:

    You could buy a DVD recorder and burn DVDs off of Live TV.

    You could watch these in most any DVD player, though some older players do not work with burned discs.

    You could buy a Digital Video Recorder, and record shows from live TV to its internal disk drive.  Cable and Satellite companies often offer these boxes, but TIVO is a well known example of a 3rd party DVR box.  Caution: you would have no easy way to move the recorded content off of the DVR for viewing elsewhere.

    You could buy an internal card or external box to connect to you computer.  this would create a video file on your computer, which you could then burn to DVD, upload to the internet, etc.  This method involves the most technical knowledge, however.

  2. u need to record it digitally , You can use your computer for this with any video capture device / TV tuner add on.

    Or you convert a file to Youtube accepted file such as avi

    or mpeg
