How do you recover deleted datas from the hard drive?

My computer was full of virus and I couldn't even restart it. So, the next best thing for me to do was to reinstall a fresh copy of Windows XP. But it deleted all of my folders (I did not format the hard drive). Is there anyway to recover the deleted folders or files?

  1. No not that i know of....but you could try restoring your computer- file- control pannel- system- system restore- follow the steps

  2. If you didn't format the drive ,the data are still there.look in your hard drive for a folder named "windows.old" Your data are there.

  3. I'm sorry but all of your files were deleted when you re-installed Windows XP. Next time you have to re-boot your hard-drive I recommend putting all the files you want to keep on CD's and then virus-check them.

Then when you have re-booted you can put all of your old files onto your computer again. But for your original files I'm afraid their gone.

    I hope this helps =]

  4. You will need a program to do that.

If you are able to recover anything from your hard drive you cant put it back in their. In order for it to work you would need another hard drive or storage device to put your deleted files in.

    Heres the program, its free:

  5. When you re-install a fresh copy of Windows, i.e a "clean install", the program automatically formats the hard drive before installing. Any files that were lost cannot be recovered now.
