Ok, so my memory card has been working fine for awhile now. I have about 100 pictures on it and was taking a couple today when it all the sudden said "This card cannot be used", I tried it in two other cameras and one said "Card not intialized" and the other said "Card has wrong format". So I tried to reformat it but none of the cameras will let me do anything, it won't let me get into the menu and nothing happens when I plug into my computer anymore. I have a SD kodak memory card and a Nikon camera. Help Please!

  1. When you format a card, the camera inserts a file so it knows the card belongs when you remove it and insert it again. Different cameras insert their own file, so don"t mix them. Your card may be corrupted. Take it to a do it your self photo machine and see if it reads it. If so, make a CD then buy a new card.

  2. Get a new card.

  3. The best way to format a card is in the camera.  I don't know what model Nikon you have, but you should be able to go through the menu to format.  But you will lose all your pictures once you do this.

  4. Look in your cameras menu for the format feature.

You should format your card after each use (and AFTER you can copied all your image files to your computer).  This will refresh your card and write new file folders and image index file.
