Question:

How do you regain your fitness after an injury?

I recently broke my toe so I've been restricted from any physical activity involving my feet for a month. I used to be overweight but in the last year I have successfully trimmed down to a healthy weight. Before my injury I used to exercise every day but now that I broke my toe the only type of exercise I'm allowed to do is sit-ups and push-ups. I've noticed I've gained some weight and I feel fatter. Is there any way to keep my current weight and prevent it from getting it any higher?

BTW: I weight 130 and I'm 5'6. I eat healthily and only once in a month eat fast food or chips

  1. Try doing some upper body exercises such as shadow boxing, or punching bags. You could also try a rowing machine.

  2. Wow, 130 at 5'6'  for a man...that's pretty darn good! I am proud of you for continuing to be concerned about your fitness.

Keep in mind that about 75% of weight maintenance is diet. Exercise is partially for weight management but mostly for heart and respiratory and pulmonary health, as well as muscle tone and to prevent muscle atrophy and also, helps with mental health as well. :) Releases endorphins.

but your weight largely depends on your diet. Until you can get back into physical exercise, watch what you eat ALWAYS (sounds like you are doing that)  AND, you can cycle/ride a bike with a fractured toe. I recommend wrapping your toe (to the next one) with some surgical tape (can get over the counter at a drug store) and start walking or jogging if you can.

    Good luck. :)
