How do you reinstall a quick disconnect fitting on the side of the transmission?

I have a 1994 Mazda B2300, and the quick disconnect fitting came off the side of the transmission by what I suspect to be the slave cylinder. I tried just pushing it back on, but it wont stay. Does anyone know how I get this piece back on? Thank you.

get a new plastic retainer and put the line back on. sounds like the plastic retainer broke causing the line to come out
