  1. My understanding of it is that the mole is the unit of measure for the number of molecules or atoms in a sample. A mole is technically equal to the atomic or molecular weight of the atom or molecule you're measuring: I.E. if water's molecular weight is 18.015, one 'mole' of water is one molecule, or 18.015. Two moles would be 26.030, etc.
