How do you relieve stress?

I think that i dont really know how to deal with stress.. i usually just cry and try not to let myself think about whatever it is thats bothering me.. but there has to be other ways. Plus i dont think that not thinking about my issues is helpful.. because then i dont deal with them. What do you guys do to relieve stress? i was thinking about going to the spa.. but im not sure. I try reading sometimes.. but my mind just wanders back to the bad stuff.. The only thing that fully works is when i get up and go out with this one particular set of friends.. but i always end up in trouble and doing horrible things with them.. but at least i dont think about my stress while im out with them. Do you guys have any alternatives or options or me? thanks

  1. Have you considered that the trouble you get in is causing your stress. Do with them to relieve stress, then get stress from being with them....round and round you go!

    Try to lie in a quiet and private place. Find a small dot or any small mark. Stare at it and think about it. When tired, close your eyes and still think of the mark. This should empty your mind and calm you. It is a common relaxation technique.

    If it doesn't work the first time, keep trying. It will works.

  3. try going for a run or exercising in your favorite way. yoga maybe? or just light a candle and take a relaxing bath

  6. I meditate. However, if you are unskilled at meditation, this can just make it worse.

    The simplest way is deep, slow breathing.

    breathe in for 3 seconds, hold it for 3 seconds, let it out for 3 seconds, have no air in you for 3 seconds, and breath in again. Do this 10 times, and in 2 minutes you will be quite relaxed. and for really deep breaths, simultaneously raise your chest and lower your diaphragm.

    if you focus only on the breathing and the time, your mind will force you to concentrate on your breathing, pushing those thoughts out of your mind in necessity.

    If you choose to visualize something while doing this, i find that both relaxing images, or simple geometric shapes work well. I invision that my breaths are the sides of a square most often.  

  7. try going to a spa for a day. Treat yoursel to a nice big day! get your nails done(a mani-pedi) try getting a massage. Also acupuncture it really works n doesnt hert at all!!

  9. Stress is something that is really not erasable if you know what I mean. You can for the " moment" get rid of stress, but if it something really serious the problem will come back until resolved. First and foremost my best advice is to resolve the stress if it can be resolved ASAP. For example, if you are fighting with a friend resolve the issue as soon as you can because building it up will only stress you more. If it is something like a car bill or something that is comming up in 2wks and you don't have the money of course you can't resolve that ASAP but you can try and plan ahead, you have 2wks. I hope you get what i am trying to get at. I live a very stressful life so I can relate to you going out with friends can really decrease stress but if you are out getting into trouble or hanging out with a "troublesome" crowd then yeah you can even get more stressed. I usually look up parks in my area and take long walks when it is nice out with my dog in the park sit down breathe in the fresh air and just think sometimes answers to my problems come out there. Also comming on this question and answer thing on yahoo helps because you can try and help others with there issues. Being stressed can sometimes be a serious issue that you may need to talk to a doctor about also. Maybe even getting a small notebook @ walmart or target and writing in there letting out some stress saying what you really want to say and hide it inbetween your matteress or something. You know what is better than all my advice go on google.com and type in stress relievers I'm sure you will find soo many things that will suit you good luck!

  10. I would try and confront those problems or atleast talk to someone about them. Sometimes if you have a talk with someone it can help alot. It is also a good idea to run or walk. It helps you releive stress and calm down and realize you got upset over a little thing and that you just need to calm down and think about it for a while and try to  think positve.

  12. well.. the problem with your explanation is that you no tell what cause you stress.. or give a example about the problem...  how to deal with stress?   you have a best friend that you can count...?  if you can't do exercise, get a bicycle and go around your neighborhood, or any other exercise that you can do.  try to learn a game, like chess etc.

    jk jk.  try going on a jog or bike ride.  releases the stress hormones through your adrenaline.  scientific fact

  14. take a long bath then pamper your self.Going to a spa means everyone else is doing all the work which leaves you with nothing to do but think about all these things that stress you out.By pampering yourself you will not only will you feel better about yourself and save money but you will keep your mind consentrated on what your doing instead of all those negative thoughts.Pick up your favorite mag and a movie.Have a movie date with yourself.I know it sounds like youll be lonely but trust me youll sleep like a baby and feel great the next morning.
