i'm not asking if they were sent to PCP or anything like that, i just want to know what the drill instructor did to them, how he talked to them, what kind of punishments did he give them and how did he humiliate them. Thanks. Anyone who tells me "they made them run alot" and "they sent them to pcp" deserves a kick in the nuts. specific, in depth answers please. i prefer stories that tell answers. and obviously you should only answer if you've ACTUALLY GONE THROUGH USMC RECRUIT TRAINING. Thank you.

  1. I remember once the commanding officer of our company inspected the barracks.  During the inspection, the CO asked some of the recruits about their basic training experiences.  The CO got to one of the chubby soldiers, and said, "I know you have no complaints about the desserts, but what about the rest of the mess hall cuisine?"  Heh heh.

Seriously, though, you can expect some ribbing, particularly if the extra weight makes you a substandard performer.  If you can still keep up with all of the physical activity, then no problem.  But it is impossible to say what you may experience, because each DI has his own personality and character.

  2. everyone is treated the same. big small fat ugly black grey blue or purple we are all the same and a team. however black people are not called black in the Marines they are called green, not as a racsim thing but makes it less racial. remeber when you are there everyone is the same no matter what shape or hight.

  3. I was a PCP private at MCRD, San Diego in 1984. After being sent to the Pork Chop Platoon, our daily regimen consisted of waking up, morning calistenics, lunch, afternoon calistenics, supper, and then concentrating on other marine corps subjects or an evening barracks circuit course consisting of alot of sit up or pull ups outside of the barracks. Mind you, in the morning 1 day it was a circuit course in the weight room, or on the field and that was alternated with running on the other days, same with the afternoon session. You were a diet private and had your meal inspected before you ate it! If you were skinny, they made you eat double helpings!  In the evening, you concentrated on studying from your green monster manual, shining shoes, barracks field day, or whatever it was to keep you busy. On fridays, former recruits came by after graduation and encouraged you with speeches that they were in your boots once. On the wekends it was the same but in a lighter sense to allow your muscles to recover for monday. On sundays, it was church, wash your clothes and light stretching in the evening. You did not go to the movies, watch tv, or any other c**p. You were treated with less yelling and more encouragement from the DI's unless they saw you not giving it your 100%. Those DI's were coming off their 3 month platoons too and they were given this relaxation assignment! PT your a$$ without having to graduate you in 3 months! After about 2 weeks you could do the minimum for a physical fitness test and you felt better and more motivated about yourself and you encouraged the newbies coming into the platoon. You had a chance at being a squadleader and believe it or not when you returned to a new platoon in their beginning phase you already were indoctrinated and not as afraid of your new DI's or the first phase process. If you end up in PCP, it will be at least amonth before you get recycled into a platoon. SEMPER FI!

  4. I never saw any of the chubbier recruits get messed with or punished for being different..

All recruits are made fun of and many times they just single out one and they make fun of them for no reason..But they dont take the "fatter" recruits aside and torture them for being heavier because everyone has some fat on them and those who are toooo big will not be in the regular platoon...Its a non issue..

  5. Don't know about the males, but from a female perspective the overweight recruits got messed with ALOT. They got called names, embarrassed and humiliated, put down and harassed alot more than the other recruits, and everything had to do with their weight.

On 4th of July, they gave us some chips to "celebrate" even though we were in boot camp and the overweight people got raisins. I mean, they were already on diet trays and doing the same PT as us. It was just really uncalled for and made them feel even more like c**p about themselves than the usual ribbing from the DIs does.

  6. "HEY FATBOY!!!  GET YOUR FAT *** OVER HERE ON MY SCALE!!!!"

Besides calling them out for being fat pieces of ****, they really didn't humiliate them that I could see anymore then they screwed with the rest of us.  They had to have horizontal stripes on the front and back of their skivie shirts to label them as people to watch more closely for heat related injuries.  Their trays were checked by the DIs to make sure they didn't have too much or have foods that they weren't allowed and they had to get weighed more often then we did.  Our DIs had them on the quarter deck every morning and every night thrashing them.  If out heavy had the duty they really had a tough time.  He told them how much he hated them for being so lazy as to let themselves get that fat and just made their lives miserable every chance he could.  One night he had gotten some sport bras and told them they'd be wearing them during PT the next day.

Everyone gets screwed with in one way or another and the fat bodies just stood out more than the rest of us.
