I had a carpet cleaned and Scotch-guarded. After it was complete the carpet was sticky to the touch. The carpet cleaners said the new guy used way to much Scotch-guard and they re-cleaned the carpet. It was cleaned 3 times but it is still sticky to the touch and smells like chemicals. The carpet company says its fine. How do I clean out the Scotch-guard???

  1. I would really contact 3m to find out the proper way to remove scotch guard. Below is the link for their e-mail help desk. As far as I know it wears off naturally with movement over the carpet. We had it at work to apply to some carpets but the stickiness wore off after a few weeks. It was really caked up at the applicator. I would contact 3m and let them assist you. Maybe you can find a better company to apply it next time.
