This is for freezing vegetables from your garden. Would you just push the air out as you close the bag?

  1. Yep, just push as much air out as you can while closing the bag.

  2. use a drinking straw to suck out the air

  3. I like to close the zipper bag almost all the way and then "roll" it from the bottom up.  This will push most of the air out of the small opening.  Of course, this depends on the kind of vegetables you are freezing.  If possible, put them sideways in the bag, so they'll roll easier.  If all else fails, use your body to push some of the air out by leaning on the bag a bit. Then, once you've got the maximum amount of air out, just close that last little bit of the zipper.

I do this all the time with my veggies.  I like to buy fresh, and then cut everything up, ready to serve.  Preserving them in this "air tight" way keeps them fresh much longer than just closing the bag the normal way.
