Question:

How do you remove all traces of blue-tack from the wall?

I am moving, and finally taking down my posters - but I have one small problem. The walls are not wall papered or painted.. but "squishy". I can't explain it, but basically there are little blue bits everywhere and have left grease marks (I think). How do I safely remove it?

Sorry for the confusing Q! :)

Thank you very much.

  1. I had that same problem a while back when i moved out of my other house. You can get the blue stuff off by just rubbing it until it comes off but I am not sure how to get the oily stuff off. I had a bunch of oily marks left behind and I just left it. Once you get all the blue stuff off, can you possibly paint over it? That's the only thing I can think of.

  2. get a ball of blue tac and press it on, should stick to the blu tac on the wall and come off..always worked for me!

  3. Sledgehammer should remove all traces, no problem.

  4. Like everyone is saying, get blue tack and roll it over. As for the green.. hm, maybe try rubbing the stain with a cloth dabbed in a bit of olive oil or Grease cleaner that you use to clean stoves.

    This is from http://www.blutack.com/faq.htm

How do I remove faint stains from the walls?

Citrus based stain remover is the best.

If the walls have been painted sometime ago, they can become porous which will

suck the oil out of Blu Tack. In this instance, you will need to clean with Sugar Soap and generally repaint the surface.

  5. get a small mop and damp it with water a little bit, maybe a bit of fairy liquid on the end of it, and scrub it off from the wall...then dry it with a clean mop.

  6. Try blue tack. If you go over your wall dabbing it with a ball of the stuff it will pick up all the tac no mess!!

  7. to get rid of the blue, roll a ball of blu tac over it to take it off, as for the grease stains i never found a solution to it, i just painted over the whole wall.  The landlord may want to paint b4 the next tenent wants to move in anyway.

  8. As already stated the way to remove blue-tack is to use blue-tack, the grease I have to admit I don't know.

  9. Try pressing soft white bread over the affected areas.
