So I hadn't had my period for 70 days, and I was getting worried but I just noticed I got it last night. My mom isn't here right now. This happens quite often during the first days of my period though, so I usually just bring my clothes to her. She says to soak them in cold water. So I'm doing that now. So will that get the stains out and then I just wash them? Or is there something else I should do?

  1. and handwash with soap and do like regular laundry

  2. Soaking them in cold water is good. But one thing I learned, is to hold the blood stain under a hard stream of cold water. The water should be falling from a distance, as far away as you can hold the garment from the source of the water. And you want the side that got stained facing AWAY from the water stream. I will sometimes turn on the shower and use that. It gets messy, have a plastic bag or something that you can carry the wet garment to the washer in so it doesn't drip all over. You will then want to use an ENZYMATIC laundry detergent. The enzymes help break down what's left of the blood stain. You want to pour a small amount onto the stain and rub it in really well before you put it in the washer. Then you can do the wash as normal. One other thing you can do, if it is a white garment, is to use a bleach pen on the stain.

Edit:  Unfortunately, Hydrogen Peroxide will SET the stain in clothes. I worked as a Vet Tech for 13 years. I learned that the hard way. It's good for removing blood stains from other things, but leaves a brown mark behind where the blood was.

  3. Hydrogen peroxide works well on blood stains. This is what I use on those stains. Pour some peroxide onto the stains-it will bubble while the peroxide is breaking down the proteins in the blood. Pour more over it until you notice the stain going away. Then rinse again with cold water. Wash as usual.

  4. i know this sounds really weird but use MILK! it works soo good. you can rub the milk on or soak whatever you want cleaned in a old cup or something. it doesnt even leave any mark at all. but you have to do it before you let it sit for too long. then rinse it with water then put it in the wash.  it has to soak for a while. it looks like it isnt working but keep scrubbing or leave it soaking longer.

  5. Liquid clorox 2. Pour it over the stain, let sit for 5 minutes and then launder. Check for stain before drying. If it still there then pour clorox 2 over the stain again, let it sit and then wash again. Usually this works the first time, almost always by the second wash.

  6. Run the cold water through it, if you like you can even rub it out a bit. If you have stain remover, it doesn't hurt to use it. Cold water should do the job though.

If you are that irregular you may want to speak to your doctor about it. You may want to change more often if you get a mess like that for the first few days of your period. I've had it happen, it's not fun and I do what I can to avoid it. I wear tampons and for the first few days I'll keep a pad on as well (just in case) so that I can avoid a possible mess.
