    Well, are you asking about a medical condition where marrow has leaked into the blood, or harvesting it for a transplant, or what?

  3. You dont.  Bone marrow is in the hip bone.  When marrow is harvested from a donor or for a bone marrow biopsy, it is taken using large needles into the hip bone.

    There are also hematopoetic stem cells in the peripheral blood as well.  They can be used in stem cell transplants (medically accurate term for a bone marrow transplant) instead of actual marrow.  They are harvested using aphersis, much the same process as if you were to sell plasma, or even some red cross donations.
