How do you remove excess spray paint from wood furniture?

So i decided to spraypaint this ugly wood rack i got from Costco. Most of it looks pretty good, but it was my first time using spray paint so it kinda got gloopy in some places cause i was too close...I tried removing some of it with a wet paper towel while it was still wet (yes i know i'm an idiot), and i just managed to s***w it up, so while everywhere else is a smooth gloss, there's a little patch of "dabbed" paint. HOW DO I FIX THIS??? So that the whole thing has a nice smooth uniform finish?

  1. Try using thinner and if that doesnt work use a razor blade to take off the runs where the paint looks gloopy sand it then paint it again try applying smaller coats at a time  Good Luck

  2. you can use paint thinner or sand paper to rub off the paint and start over but the paint thinner you wanna wear glove and face mask it can make you sick if you breath it in good luck you can be th stuff at like lowes or sears or something

  3. Eek, now you know why spray paint is great in theory and tough in practice!  It ALWAYS gloops!

If this were mine, I would take a small paintbrush and a little thinner, and working outdoors proceed very slowly to just "disturb" the dab to make a blend-in.  No more dabbing with another object.

Be prepared that it may not work.  If necessary, you may need to take some light sandpaper to the area to get the patch smoothed, then again work it with your thinner, tiny paintbrush, and paint.

Remember, think of this as art restoration at this point.  If the art restorers can restore the Old Masters, you can do this!

Should be a fun project -- good luck!
