Question:

How do you remove left over tape off of doors?

My mom taped up some halloween decorations last year on our white wooden door with scotch tape (ugh!) and now the tape won't come off...

It's making it look awful! Is there anything I can do to remove the tape off the door without damaging the paint?

Thanks :)

  1. WD 40 is a good product for removing adhesives.

  2. use a razor blade carefully.  discontinue if paint is pealing, but it should work

  3. there's a product called Goo Gone, made specifically for removing adhesives. It's citrus-scented and yellowish-orange colored. You can find it at Home Depot or local drug store... or order online (see link)

  4. Some say WD-40. Try that and if you can get a straight razor and just barely lift an end you may be able to pull it off slowly.

  5. Rubbing alcohol. It will come right off.

  6. If the wooden is stained with laquer, you should be able to dab a small

amount of plain dish soap directly on the left-over glue.  After a few minutes, (do NOT allow to dry!) you can scrub it gently with a paper towel.  Works well on the pesky price-tag tape on newly purchased items, too.   Good luck.

  7. if you remove the cellophane itself the adhesive will come off with hot soapy water

  8. WD40 Works Great at this.

You can also try Goofoff. (it might be call goo off)

put the product on the tape and gently work the tape off with your fingernail or plastic card like a credit-card. keep re-applying until complete.
