How do you remove old pet urine stains from the carpet using simple chemicals?

The pet urine stains in question have been in place for a long time, maybe up to a few months :(

Are there any household items and methods that I could use to pick up the stain? The only problem is, the stain is a bit old.

  1. I can't offer any guarantees about a pet stain that has had a chance to set. But you might try soaking the area in vinegar.

    Good luck!

  2. my dogs retarded and pees everywhere. our best luck is soap and water.

for dry stains we use Resolve pet stain and odor remover.

    it does wonders

  3. hmm none that I know of I suggesting getting a spot bot pet it worked well for me or there are tons of pet stain lifers you can buy and try.

  4. Woolite carpet cleaner works fairly well.  the best way to get pet stains out is to spray them down with water untill the carpet is damp, then spray on the carpet cleaner.  Let the cleaner sit for 5-10 min, and then mist on more water.  After that, double over an old cotton towel and put it over the stain, and use an iron on the highest setting to "steam" out the stain.  It can take up to 15 min of heat to get the stain out, and for bad stains it can take a second treatment.  You don't want to use any acidic cleaners since pet urine is acidic, and you'll not be guying yourself anything due to all the chemistry of it.

  5. try this it is green, easy and works great
