Question:

How do you remove rubber exhaust hangers?

I have a 98 CRV, and I'm trying to get the rubber exhaust isolators off from the front and back of the exhaust. What is the best way to get these off? Should I be trying to pop them off from the top or "unhook" them from the bottom?

  1. Just pull on them or pry them off with a screwdriver or small prybar.  They normally come right off.

  2. spray on crc or water dispersent and lever them of with a s***w driver

  3. if you are trying to replace them, both.  whichever one is smooth should come off first, then the other one.

  4. spray the rubber with some type of soapy solution, apply a little bit of force, it should pop right out

  5. generous use of spray lube and a four foot pry bar, I prefer to unhook them from the exhaust and leave them hooked to the body because once they are on the floor you don't have any leverage for the pry bar
