I have the worst period pain every single month. It is so bad that i have to sleep. That's the only thing that helps. Is there any remedies that anyone knows to help this? The doctor said to take panadol or neurophen but none of them work!

Help will be greatly appreciated!

  1. Sometimes a heating pad will help to relax the muscles that are contracting in your uterus that cause the cramps.

  2. i have that some times too. i just lay down with one of those heating pads and watch t.v to try to get my mind off of it.

  3. There's a few things you can do:

    1. Exercise. It will release endorphins which will naturally make you feel better.

    2. Take a hot bath. The heat will help your muscles relax. If baths aren't your thing, heat packs (the type you plug in, or even microwave) do the trick as well. Just wrap one in a towel or blanket and apply to where ever you get bad cramps.

    3. Drink hot tea. Especially herbal tea! Helps relieve stomach pains and aches.

    4. Nap. Doesn't have to be a long nap, I find that a 30 minute cat nap does the trick.

    5. When push comes to shove, take a Midol (or a similar medication). Helps with back pain, cramps, and headaches.

  4. run, well not like RUN but take a nice jog around the block a few times, sounds weird but it actually helps(:

  5. Ah... cramps suck don't they?

Okay, eat a lot of yogurt and fruits. The natural sugars will satisfy that "need to binge" feeling every time you get your period and will also help with the cramps. I find that bananas and apples work the best. The miracle of yogurt is that it not only helps your digestive system, the cultures also help your uterus from trying to kill you! Lay off the caffeine and also get a little bit of exercise. Try walking around the block a couple of times (if you have a dog, it's a great excuse to give Fido a walk).

Also, if you're just watching t.v., use the heating pad on your lower abs. It relaxes you long enough to not be in pain.

  6. my mom always tells me to get into a warm bath whenever i have stomache craps because my older sister had really awful ones & she said whenever she was cramping she would just go sit in the tub for hours.

  7. I know this seems odd but if I eat a chocolate bar, it helps me with my cramps.

  8. Heating pads work really well!

  9. I have advice for you that REALLY helped my pain. I have had bad starting pains for years. the first and second day of my period still leave me unable to work, but not unable to walk or eat or sleep like before. I had a laparoscopy, no problems except back tilted uterus.

I tried paracetamol, ibuprofen, codeine, feminize and none worked.

The only thing that works for me is to take Buscopan along with ponstan forte. I take them the day before my period is due until the 3 rd day. I also take magnesium and evening primrose oil all month long and this helps.

Buscopan has saved my life! I used to get cramps that made me sick, not now. try it along with a hot water bottle and some chocolate.x

  10. I've found that a heating pad or hot bath can help relieve cramping (actually, I once used an electric blanket turned on high).  If that doesn't work, then walking or other mild exercise, not enough to stress your body but enough to keep moving seems to help.  Making sure I've been drinking enough water and have eaten at least something also helps, though cramps often make me lose my appetite.

I always want to curl up in bed, but when I do I generally find that there's nothing to do but concentrate on the fact that I'm in pain, which just makes me feel worse.  I also think that coffee and chocolate both make me feel worse, though if I don't drink my coffee then I get a headache instead.

If you're really in pain and the medications your doctor has recommended aren't helping, then you should talk with him/her about trying something else.  Going on birth control if you aren't already can help regulate your period and decrease cramps as well.

  11. I know this is kind of weird, but my period pains come HARD, and when im feeling it, i lay on the ground and think of other things, something about just laying on the floor helps. i also usedthose hot pads things, it surprisingly helps. I know, im odd :)
