Question:

How do you remove sticky tape residue from microfiber?

I have all microfiber furniture in my living room and I made the mistake of using a product called Sticky Paws (a doubled sided tape) to prevent my cats from scratching it. I just had all 3 of my cats declawed and went to remove the Sticky Paws from my beige microfiber couch, love seat, and recliner, and it has left a horrible dark, sticky residue that I cannot get off to save my life. I have tried my steam cleaner with upholstery cleaner, goo gone, and just plain dish soap and water with a cleaning cloth and this stuff still will not come off at all. Can anyone suggest a really effective way to get this stuff off? Please help!

  1. try a product called goo-gone. it takes sticky stuff off of anything and smells good too. You can find it at hardware stores. (Lowe's, home depot, canadian tire) Its cheap and it works. You might want to try it on a small piece of the furniture first to make sure it doesn't ruin it.

  2. you might try a hair dryer and a clean cloth.  heat the spot till it's hot, now quickly try laying the clean cloth on top of the goo, now press the cloth into the heated goo and then try to peel the cloth with the goo that's stuck to it.  heat usually will soften that kind of goo.  keep replacing the the cloth after every try.

    good luck to ya.

i use that method all the time to remover stickers and tape that are no longer wanted.
