After you remove the two screws you have to pull the assembly straight out to disengage the two pins on the outside edge of the lamp assembly. Pull HARD, you won't break it.

Lower your tailgate there will be 2 torx head screws per side. All you need to do is remove the 2 screws on which ever side you want to remove.

unscrew the screws.  Usually a hex head screwdriver will do.
