  1. Go to Control Panel and select Sounds and Audio Devices; Select the Sounds Tab at the top of the Dialog Box and you will see a section that says Sound Schemes, you can select the blank option or No Sounds, I use the blank option.

  2. click START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, click on SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES, click on the tab labelled SOUNDS, in the center of that box there will be a list of PROGRAM EVENTS.  Scroll down the list until you find START NAVIGATION under WINDOWS EXPLORER group.  highlight the START NAVIGATION line by left clicking on it once, and in the box below the PROGRAM EVENTS called SOUNDS,

click the drop down arrow and a list of sounds will pop up.  You can select any sound you want or go to the top of the list a select none.

    that's what I did.

  3. do this :

    >open control panel

    >open sounds and audio devices

    >click on sounds tab

    >under sound schemes select no sound

    >click on apply

voila u r done ur click sound is gone for good

  4. Open control panel.

Go to sounds and audio devices

    under the tab "sounds"

    under the heading "sound scheme"

click the down arrow and choose "no sounds"

    click apply and exit

You have not indicated your operating system, so I assume it is XP, but it will also work with prior versions.
