My 2 month old Maytag washer won't drain or spin. I know it's not the lid because it still makes the clicking noise when I shut it. I want to check the draining hose to see if it's clogged or something. How to you remove the hose from the washer? I know I can't just pull it out. The model number is MTW5700TQO . I haven't been able to find any helpful information online. The washer is full of water and clothes, what would happen if I take the hose out? Please help, I don't know what to do!? And yes I have called the Maytag repair people. but they can't look at it till WEDNESDAY!

  1. You may have a small sock or other item lodged in the pump.  When my children were small, I had a sock get eaten by the pump.

I did some checking.  This must happen pretty often.  I googled washer pump sock and got a bunch of these.

  2. The drain hose is usually attached to nylon nipple with a spring loaded clamp inside of the washer. Just remove the back by removing the screws,  and look for the clamp, you only need a pair of pliers to remove it.

If you want to drain the tub with clothes in it, just lower the hose below the level of the bottom of the tub and it will drain. I hope you have the washer in a basement near a floor drain. Otherwise you won't be able to drain the tub the way I just described. You'll have to take the wet clothes out and bale the water out.

  3. The hose runs through the back of the machine into the water pump. It is attached by a water pump clamp. If you don't have water pump pliers, a pair of channel lock pliers can do the job. Be prepared for alot of water though so have a shallow pan or a wet/dry shop vac handy. It is unlikely that there is a clog though because it should still run and attempt to drain. Lowering the hose below the height of the water line will allow it to drain which is much easier than removing things though.
