How do you remove the lead from a pencil?

When you get the stub etc to remove it from inside the wood

  1. There used to be a lad in my class called Simon Breedon who used to nibble the wood off - give it to him!


  2. you draw and write with it silly!!!

  3. when a pencil is made, its made in 2 halves and a small groove cut in the middle of each half. the one half then goes through a glue machine and then the lead is inserted on the one half, then the second half is placed on top of the first half.

    when the glue dries (usually a few Min's) then they go through a conveyor like system which then coats the pencils in special non toxic paint (as folks tend to put pencils in mouths!) and there you go.... a pencil.

    it would be hard to split the pencil once glued together.

  5. so you want only the wood part? or the graphite part? if the graphite part, you can use scissors or a swiss knife to cut the wood into shavings. it works!
